Fullness of Heart – Clarity of Mind – Vitality of Body

Kansas Brew

Kansas has engaged in body movement of one sort or another since she was five, when she first put on a pair of tap shoes. Kansas is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher who received her training with Martha Abbot at the Yoga Barn on Martha’s Vineyard. She has completed a Mindfulness in Education Teacher training with Daniel Rechtschaffen at the Omega Institute, and she attended Mindfulness in Education conferences at the Omega Institute and in New York City. At Kripalu, she completed Yoga for Seniors training with Kimberly Carson and Carol Krucof, Five Elements Yoga with Jennifer Reis, and a weeklong workshop on trauma, the body, and the brain with Bessel van der Kolk, Dana Moore, and Steven Gross.

Kansas is also a special education teacher at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. Her aspiration is to bring yoga and mindfulness into to the classroom and to the under-served populations. Kansas’ classes are a harmony of pranayama (breath work), warm-ups, asana, (postures), meditation, mindfulness, and sprinklings of fun. Her intention is to bring into being compassion, awareness, joy, and a slowing down for the students.
